Social Coaching

Does your child have difficulty making and keeping friends?  Do they make social mistakes and appear to “not get it” even when it seems like they should have known better?  Social thinking involves the ability to take the perspective of others, understand socially acceptable behaviors, and be able to shift our own behavior in real-time social situations.  I use behavior skills training such as direct instruction, modeling, role-playing, homework and close communication with parents to teach the why behind social interactions, mores and norms and how using these interactions leads to better outcomes and more successful social interactions.
